While some students may still be finishing up their school year, this marks the first full week of summer for me. The only way I can truly relax and enjoy myself is when I'm listening to my favorite music and that includes the unconventional "indie" music genre. Here is the playlist you've been waiting for, full of the perfect, catchy indie tracks you need to enjoy your summer.

1. "Colours In The Sky" - Miami Horror

An Australian band formed in 2007, Miami horror fits into the "nu-disco" category of indie. "Colours In The Sky" is something you can listen to if you feel like dancing or taking a road trip.

2. "Bring My Baby Back" - Dr. Dog

Based in Philly, Dr. Dog continues to put out hits like "Heart It Races" and "Where'd All The Time Go?". This feel-good hit will send you right into the summer.

3. "Hunger" -Florence + The Machine

The wonderful Florence Welch is back with another hit. "Hunger" will put you on the right track to have a good summer.

4. "Get It Right" -Diplo ft. MØ and Goldlink

Released right before the school year ended, Diplo combined the magical voices of Goldlink and MØ to create the perfect summer hit.

5. "Daft Pretty Boys" - Bad Suns

When my sorority, Phi Mu of the University of South Carolina, brought the Bad Suns to a function, I knew they were electric. With lead singer Christo Bowman's wild voice and crazy energy, "Daft Pretty Boys" will put you in a summer mood.

6. "Ride Or Die" - The Knocks ft. Foster The People

With Foster The People on tour this summer with Paramore, "Ride or Die" is the perfect summer music for any moment at any time.

7. "New Light" - John Mayer

As one of my favorite artists, John Mayer blessed the music world with yet another hit last week and it's an entire summer mood.

8. "Girls On The TV" - Laura Jean

The epitome of "indie", Laura Jean gave us the perfect indie song for the summer with an 80s vibe and an upbeat tune.

9. "Freaking Out The Neighborhood" - Mac DeMarco

Another one of my favorite artists, Mac creates quirky songs about love, salad, and disappointing his mom. "Freaking Out The Neighborhood" will pull you into the summer in the first five seconds.

10. "Good Luck" - The Undercover Dream Lovers

One of the most indie bands I have yet to find, The Undercover Dream Lovers have given me one of my favorite songs of all time. With more 80s vibes, "Good Luck" is one of my go-to's to put me in a happy mood.

11. "Coins" - Local Natives

I could not rave more about Local Natives. I continue to find songs that I fall in love with only to find out they're by the Local Natives. "Coins" is a summer starter and if you really want a great summer, check out more by them.

12. "This Year" - Beach Fossils

If you want a relaxing summer, give the album Somersault by Beach Fossils a try.

13. "Summer Days (Roosevelt Remix)" - Rhye

Even though I heard it on spring break, this song will always remind me of sunny times and summer days. It's a perfect song for going to the beach, riding through the city, and other summer activities.

14. "Beach Comber" - Real Estate

Another one of my favorite bands, Real Estate takes the cake for summer hits. "Beach Comber" could be on repeat and you'd never want it to stop.

15. "Tiny Umbrella" - Coast Modern

Coast Modern has been a constant in the indie world with funky electronic beats and catchy lyrics. "Tiny Umbrella" is perfect for sunshine and summer.

16. "Agora" - Bear Hands

I first heard this song in high school, but its always stuck with me as a summer hit. If you need a high energy summer, check out other Bear Hands songs.

17. "Darling" - Real Estate

If you're thinking about sitting out on the porch with a good book all summer, "Darling" will put you right in the mood.

18. "Going Gets Tough" - The Growlers

With a reggae vibe, "Going Gets Tough" is the perfect song to take a trip to the beach and spend some time in the summer sun.

19. "Apocalypse Dreams" - Tame Impala

Hands down, my favorite band of all time, I had to pull at least one song from them for the summer. "Apocalypse Dreams" will put you in exactly the psychedelic mood you're wanting for the summer.

20. "Shallow Water" - Weathers

Not even two weeks into the airwaves, "Weathers" is a good way to start your summer carefree.

21. "Dreams" - Beck

Beck has come full circle after a long career of hits and "Dreams" is something you should have on your summer playlist.

22. "Your Dog" - Soccer Mommy

Despite the bizarre name that puts her right in the indie category, Soccer Mommy's "Your Dog" is a mellow hit for the summer.

23. "Saturdays" - Twin Shadow ft. HAIM

Yet another 80s vibe turned indie, "Saturdays" will put you in the right mood.

24. "Oh The Savior!" - Temples

When I found the Temples on a random indie playlist I knew immediately they were good for road trips and summertime fun.

25. "Oh Devil" - Electric Guest

One of my new favorite bands in the indie genre, Electric Guest mixes mild EDM with indie beats to create a great sound for the summer.

While that's the end of my playlist for the moment, I'll keep adding to it as the summer goes on. If you want to check out the playlist and stay updated, follow this link:

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
