As you grow up, you make friends. And how many of those friends do you actually keep? About 10 percent. Everyone has friendship hardships, some friendships get through it and others don't make the cut. Some people say that their mom or dad is their best friend. But unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to share that special bond with them as they do. Other people swear that their best friends are their siblings. Off course, siblings can make great friends, but again, there are people that do not have the luck of having siblings.
There are those rare times where you actually meet some awesome people at school -- whether it's elementary, middle, or high school, or even college. You make a pact with them that they will be your best friends forever. And if you do find someone like that, you are incredibly lucky. But yet again, they are not always going to be there for you. You will take different paths and life will separate you, even though you can keep in touch constantly with the power of technology, they won't actually be there every time you need them. You will all have lives of your own -- it's inevitable. And that is totally fine.
Then, you think your whole world changes when you meet the love of your life, you get married, you're completely hitched. You decide that he or she is the best friend you will ever have. But to be honest, life happens. Your love for each other might not be as strong enough down the road, you might not feel the same way as you did in the beginning. Or God forbid something terrible happens to them. But sadly, they are not the perfect best friend either.
You can call it cheesy, but it's the truth. The one person that will forever be the perfect best friend is yourself. You are the perfect partner in crime. Sure, you can have many friends, great friends even -- but you will always have the perfect best friend. You won't let anything bad happen to you, you will be there for the good and the bad, and you will literally have the best memories. And you should never let anyone or anything mistreat your perfect best friend, you are the only one that can tell them what to do. You are your own best friend. Make it last. Enjoy every minute of it. And don't forget to spoil them every now and then -- after all, they do deserve it, don't you think?
