Another day goes by, and the faith in the human race is anything but restored. All we hear is terrorism, Trump, and that Boko Haram is using women to transport bombs. The panic, the worry, and the fundamental distrust that has been circulating through mankind is a solely media created, a media-driven monster. The stories that sell are ironically the ones that people throw out their windows in disgust.
There is a part of everyone that wants to change the world, that wants to extract the human out of every being, but how can we do that? What the media does is dehumanize who they want. They paint images of savagery in order to rally the people against a threat, and then they remove every little trace of humanity that could be there. The only way that we can progress as a group to regain harmony, is to recognize each individual for what they are and for what they are worth.
You cannot solve the problems in the Middle East by treating one side as dogs and the other as royalty but by leveling the playing field. (Forgive the sense of stream of consciousness that I take and have taken). We glorify liberty and equality and justice, but we do not take after these qualities in our actions, and that is the sad and problematic issue that we are faced with.
It's easy to glorify whatever you want to. Hollywood can glamorize poverty by putting a silver lining on a comeback kid story of an unfortunate child born into an unfortunate circumstance who refuses to give up regardless of the adversity he or she faces and ends up being successful. It's easy to make a rich kid feel for another that grows up in the slums, but the difficulty lies in creating action.
The first step to action is realizing that it could have been you. We can move past this era of negativity, as I have just deemed it, but we must put ourselves into the shoes of those we criticize. Because maybe, just maybe, we'll learn a thing or two, and that's just the irony of life. Life will throw you curveballs that you never would have expected, and taking strikes is never the hard part. Continuing to strike out is the average man's game, but learning to adapt and to hit one home is the way of champions.
What people need to soon realize is that to make a difference, we must conquer that very irony of existence. The irony of life is that the truest strength is letting go, the purest love is often harsh, the most powerful form of action may be inaction, and the powerful are the least deserving of the positions they hold. And how can the educated be the ones who hold the most ignorance? These realities are our generation's stepping stones to creating the world that we crave and deserve. The best thing to realize is that for us, we aren't even close to being worn out. Our lives seem like they have been going on for an eternity, but we've just begun. We quite literally have all the time in the world to do what we want with it, and it's time for us to step up.
