10 Must-Dos For Penn Staters In Preparation For Michigan Hate Week

It's a white out game... and Michigan still sucks.

With Michigan hate week in full swing here at Penn State, there's a lot you need to do as a student to prepare for the big weekend. Here's a list of the top 10 things to check off before Friday night comes around:

1. Get your white out gear.

This is your #1 priority. Join the best atmosphere in college football by sporting your best whites!

2. Make your tailgate plans.

Figure out where you want to be and when this weekend. It's always safer to plan everything out early so you don't skip a beat!

3. Buy your booze.

Get it early—it'll gone before you know it.

4. Make sure your student section ticket is downloaded and ready.

Service is pretty much nonexistent around Beaver Stadium on football weekends...especially Michigan weekend when literally everyone and their mother is in State College. Make sure your ticket is in your Apple Wallet for the fastest entry (which also makes it easier to dash to the chicken basket line).

5. Get your homework done.

If there's one thing you don't want to have on your mind this weekend, it's schoolwork. Work hard this week and get done some things that are stressing you out! You'll enjoy your weekend so much more if it's a stress-free one.

(You're only allowed to stress about the football game).

6. Take care of your body all week!

Get good sleep, hydrate, and eat well...because this weekend will not make your body too happy... if ya know what I mean ;-)

7. Make a bomb ass playlist.

Play it at the family tailgate or in your apartment (or dorm...) when you're getting ready! You're gonna need something to keep up the hype this weekend.

8. Definitely get a pin.

The BEAT MICHIGAN pins are more than necessary this week. Heck, buy it early and put it on your backpack...

9. Have friends staying for the weekend? Communicate with them early.

For visitors, a Penn State football weekend can be extremely overwhelming...some would even say scary.

Make sure you let your visiting friends know what to expect before they arrive and the best way to get to your place because the traffic will be ~next level~

10. Last but not least...PREPARE YOUR NITTANY LION ROAR.

Whose got the best Nittany Lion roar!?!?!

Get ready to shout it out Saturday night under the lights like a true Penn Stater.

LET'S! GO! P! S! U!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
