For many years, rumors have been circulating surrounding the death of Paul McCartney, member of The Beatles. It's theorized that McCartney passed in a fatal car accident and was immediately replaced with a look-alike, Billy Shears. Though tough to believe, there are a handful of suspicious instances which can cause some doubt. The "evidence" below will provide some insight, but it's ultimately up to you to decide.
Abbey Road
As shown, The Beatles are supposedly in a specific order – John Lennon dressed in white as a religious figure, Ringo Starr as an undertaker, McCartney barefoot as many cultures bury the dead, and George Harrison in jeans as the gravedigger. Additionally, the album concludes with three songs, in order, "Golden Slumbers", "Carry That Weight", and "The End."
Sgt. Peppers
This image, on the inside cover of Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, displays McCartney in the fetal position with a black patch on his arm which reads OPD (Officially Pronounced Dead). On the back cover, McCartney is the only member to be facing the opposite direction, displaying his back.Magical Mystery Tour
Additionally, within the booklet, McCartney can be seen sitting at a desk stating, "I was".
The White Album
The song, "Don't Pass Me By", is thought to be a tribute to McCartney's passing, with the lyrics:
"I listen for your footsteps,
Coming up the drive.
Listen for your footsteps,
But they don't arrive.
Waiting for your knock dear,
On my old front door.
I don't hear it."
In addition, the lyrics alone to "I'm So Tired" may seem telling enough, but when listening to the mumbling voice at the end of the song played backwards, one can hear "Paul is a dead man, miss him, miss him, miss him."
Let It Be
The final "clue" can be observed on the "Let It Be" album cover itself, with McCartney portrayed with a a crimson red background, while the others are seen with white backdrops.
After reviewing the "evidence," is Paul McCartney dead? Probably not, but will we ever be sure?
