Why It Pays To Be Patient

Two words that have the same amount of letters and stand in correlation within each other without realizing it has to be, for me, patient and rewards.

How are we so lucky to have to wait for things, so that even better things come our way?

If I have ever struggled with anything in my life, it is has been patience. I know I'm not the only one who thinks impatient is probably their middle name. Whether it's waiting in line for some fast food, my hair to air dry, a text back, a phone call, a new song or album to come out, and anything else that takes more time than my comfort zone will allow (which isn't much at all).

It seems so simple, doesn't it? Just waiting. There's nothing we can do about it, but man does it eat us up when something isn't coming our way fast enough. We begin to grow tired of it, we give up, we lose our sight of faith. It is so easy to become impatient and even easier to forget that there's something at the end of the tunnel.

If I have learned anything from being impatient, it has been that whenever we do choose to wait for whatever we happen to be waiting for whether it is a day, a month, a year or just a couple seconds - I have been equally blessed and rewarded in so many ways. The rewards that I have been shown have changed my life in so many ways. While not all rewards are going to be positive, they remain rewarding. Waiting for the storm to pass in order to experience the calm has been a challenging lesson. When the rewards are positive; however, I have experienced a whole new outlook on life. I remember praying for patience. Praying for days when things would come by easy and I wouldn't sweat a thing - waiting for this has paid in itself even now.

So, whenever you're a little down and out because you're waiting for some news, you're waiting for a text or a phone call, or even waiting for something so simple like your hair to dry: think of everything that will come AFTER you're done waiting. And whether the outcomes are good or bad, the rewards amount to doors closed and doors wide open. And I don't know about you, but I love the sound of both. So much can come from being patient and steadfast behind what you are waiting for. I can't say I've ever wronged myself when it comes to being consistent. Keep yourself sane. Trust in the "waiting time" that it will prosper in absolute values. Sometimes it's better to not be in control of everything.

"A handful of patience is worth more than a bushel of brains." - Dutch Proverb

Here's to the two words that forever have the same amount of letters that we may not always plunge together in every situation - I hope you will always reign supreme in our difficult, trying, waiting times. There is nothing sweeter than the calm after one hell of a storm.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
