The presidential primaries are certainly dominating many news circuits. I am sure many of you are tired of the constant back and forth between all of the candidates, and the tireless media coverage of every single action of the candidates. What better way to break up the gridlock of politics than to add a Parks and Rec perspective! Whether you appreciate politics or not , I am sure most Parks and Recreation fans have thought about who each character would vote for. Based on their personalities and what they've said about politics, here are who the characters from Parks and Recreation would probably vote for. This includes all candidates who have run in this election cycle, not just the candidates running presently. Hopefully, this article will add a little humor to the intensity of the presidential election right now.
Leslie Knope - Hillary Clinton
Leslie Knope is a hard working and dedicated public servant. She also is a fan of the American political establishment. She has always admired Hillary Clinton for her work in politics and idolized her accomplishments. Leslie wants to be like Hillary Clinton, a successful woman in politics. It is pretty obvious that Leslie would vote for Hillary at the first chance she got.
Ben Wyatt - Bernie Sanders
Due to his experience as a campaign manager, Ben has experienced many disingenuous politicians. Ben definitely appreciates Bernie's authenticity as a politician. Ben is also an idealist, so he would definitely like Bernie's passion and idealism.
Ann Perkins - Hillary Clinton
Throughout the series, Ann did not care for politics until Leslie made her. In this Presidential Primary, Ann probably would not pay much attention to the elections on her own. However, Leslie's extreme enthusiasm and excitement for the primaries would probably sway Ann to become a Hillary supporter, like her best friend. And Ann would probably end up sincerely supporting Hillary, but it will be rooted in Leslie's support for Hillary.
Ron Swanson - No one
Let's be real, Ron is not registered to vote. He would not want to give the government his personal information in order to register. He also wouldn't believe that any of the politicians running could fix anything. However, if Ron had to pick a candidate, it would probably be Ron Paul, because he is the most libertarian. However, based on the personalities of the candidates, Ron would likely be a fan of Bernie. Bernie is the least "establishment" of all the candidates, so Ron would definitely be a fan of Bernie's down to earth attitude. He would probably not be a fan of his democratic socialism though.
Chris Traeger - Hillary Clinton
Chris Traeger is passionate about politics, but he is a stickler for the rules. Chris would most likely agree with Hillary's policies, because they are more "safe" than Bernie's. Chris would think that Hillary would be a great leader and a great face for America, mostly because Hillary wants to make the government system work for us.
April Ludgate - Drumpf
April just wants to watch the world burn.
Andy Dwyer - Bernie Sanders
Andy is a happy go lucky, child at heart. He is optimistic and passionate about the things he loves. He sees Bernie as a really amazing old dude who is kicking butt as a politician. And he definitely appreciates Bernie's optimism and idealism. Andy will probably have to ask for Ben's help to learn how to register to vote, though.
Donna Meagle - Marco Rubio
Donna is a great combination of sweet and sassy. She is also a little self centered. She would probably find Marco Rubio's policies appealing, and it does't hurt that she would probably find him the most attractive candidate.
Tom Haverford - Drumpf
Drumpf is associated with money, power and fame. Tom Haverford worships all of these aspects, and therefore would be mesmerized by Drumpf. Tom is all about brand recognition, and wants to be a rich entrepreneur someday. Therefore Drumpf's fame would make Tom a loyal supporter.
Jerry Gergich - Bernie Sanders
Jerry Gergich is definitely the underdog of this show. Bernie is also the underdog in these presidential primaries. Jerry is sweet, and though he is an easy target for teasing, his plucky and optimistic attitude never falters. He would definitely adore Bernie's spirit and idealism. However, knowing Jerry, he would probably show up 10 minutes late to voting booths and miss his chance to vote for Bernie.
Lil' Sebastian - Bernie Sanders
If this beloved Pawnee mascot could vote for anyone, it would be Bernie. Lil' Sebastian probably would not care for politics too much, but would adore Bernie's personality.
