Obviously the past week has been riddled with chaotic confusion. One minute a police officer guns down an innocent black man and then we find a sniper gunning down cops. It's easy to lose sight of people's desires when they are pushed to the brink.
Let's make one thing clear: those cops and that black man did not deserve to die. I will not in any way excuse the actions of that cop who just pumped a pinned down African American full of lead. That is just wrong and I don't know how many times I've said that this year. But the issue that is born out of that horrendous act is what happens when people retaliate against their oppressors.
The shooting that occurred in Dallas was very quickly assumed to be the fault of the Black Lives Matter protest, particularly by Dallas officials. This assertion makes absolutely zero sense. First of all, if the shooting was done by them, then why in the world would they be running AWAY from the person who is shooting the cops? Secondly, why would only one person be doing it if this is what the protesters wanted to do? It was a peaceful protest. Of course when it comes to minorities, we easily paint everyone with the same brush. However, when the script is flipped, the white people would cast us into the jaws of the beast. If they don't want us to feel that white people are psychotic maniacs with military grade firearms every time a school gets shot up, then they would be wise to not do the same when cops get shot by a rogue individual.
I am a Black Lives Matter supporter and I do not condone the killing of police as a means to solving the blatant racism that persists to this day. However, do not blame me or any of my other cohorts for his actions. You quickly assume that when a white person does something stupid that he's just an idiot kid who's mentally ill. For God's sake, are all of y'all defective? If every white person that commits a crime is mentally ill then all of you white people should be in a psychiatric ward for everyone's safety (except now you can carry guns in those places now). But that would be considered a racist statement right? Now you know how we feel. Next time you want to generalize people maybe you should can it and think about the ignorance with which you are about contaminate the air.
You wouldn't like it if we generalized you, so don't do it to us. The country would be so much better off that way
