The election passed, and now we have a new President. I will not say whose side I am on, but I do want to say that what has happened has happened. Like many people, I was not pleased with the results, but it does not mean I stand against him entirely. Yes, I do not like certain policies he wants this country to pursue or even some of the moral grounds we grew up on are very different. However, being the type of person my mother taught me to be, I will not judge.
I do not like the way he sees things, and being a woman, I certainly do not respect his ways. I don't ask of anyone to hate him anymore or to change their political views for him. I am not asking for you to toss names to those who support him or to toss names to those who don't.
That is not what our country needs right now. Our country needs unity. I will not lie, I was completely scared to walk out into the real world, out of the safe campus of my school. Scared to be judged by my ethnicity, my religion, my appearance. But then, as I sit day by day in my classes, interacting with people of all races and all religions, I knew that nothing changed. As always, there is always a group who will not like another group. There will always be a little hate in a place where love is more dominant.
America is not the place for people to judge others; no, it is the place to embrace our differences. One of my classmates had said America is the heart of the world, where citizens of different countries come together to share and experience different cultures. To have neighbors from Asia, Australia, or Europe. To work with people from the countries of the world.
Why are people hating on the citizens of this world? Whoever prophesied that people must hate other people not like them? We are all different, but inside we are all the same, same anatomy.
I ask of you, now, to not hate the person who is saying they cannot tolerate people who are different. I ask of you, now, to not hate the person trying to spread love. Instead, let us come together and compromise. Let us respect each other. Respect goes a long way. We all live in this country, this is our home as much as it is yours. So to have us all be happy and to coexist, we should respect and love each other. Help us to continue making our country one of the best as it was, without the hate.
