How I Deal With Opposing Viewpoints

Yes, I am in the middle.

When it comes down to picking a side on a big controversial issue, I always seem to look at both sides of the issue. I don't exactly go down deep into research, but if I see something being argued about, I try to look at both standpoints. This goes with a lot of stands. Whether it be abortion or the new public bathroom issues. Before you read this, know that this is all based on my opinion. You have the same right so allow me to have one also.

I'd like to first talk about abortion. Abortion is an enormous issue today just as it was when it first came about. I've written so many argument papers over this and I can't seem to go deep into whether I am pro-life or pro-choice. To be honest, I am pro-choice, but I believe people and even teens, should be taught about these procedures, what exactly they are about to destroy, and what other options they have. If my best friend came up to me and told me she was pregnant and wanted to abort her child, I would not hate her, nor would I throw her out of my life, but I would not support her action. Although, I do believe she has the right to chose what to do with her body. I wrote an argument paper my second semester in college about teens being taught about birth control in school and even though it may not seem like it does, this has almost everything to do with abortion. If we do not teach young adults how to protect themselves from getting pregnant, how are we expecting to end abortion issues?

Let's just get this out of the way here. If you don't want to share a bathroom, either make individual bathrooms like some places do, or cut public bathrooms all together. The end.

Marijuana seems to be a huge issue also. I believe marijuana should be legal for medical purposes, because I know people that take medicine that contains the plant. I also see videos of people that have had major changes after taking the drug. I don't know if this is true, but it should definitely be checked. What I don't understand, is why people all of a sudden have the need to complain about a plant. We use a lot of different plants for a lot of different things. Yeah, maybe we shouldn't smoke the plant, but does it really affect you? I certainly don't, but of course I know people who do and I'm still here, living, and breathing.

I do, however, believe gay marriage should be legalized, because honestly, who cares? I believe a man and a woman are suppose to go together and that's how I plan to live, but if that's what you like, cool. Awesome. Do what you want. I have close friends that plan to have a same sex marriage and I'll be sitting in the front row. So no, I don't believe it is right, but yes, it should be legalized, because I am not them. I am me.

There's a lot of controversial issues I could bring up, but I am not much into arguments. I look at both sides and I try to make my own opinion, but typically I am going to not pay attention. This why I have a hard time voting. I want to start doing that now, but I wish people just understand what it means to have an opinion and when to actually complain. Like are we seriously fighting about bathrooms? Yes, I can understand some things to be argued about, but definitely not bathrooms. What ever happened to be an individual who has an opinion? Do what you like and say what you like, but if you honestly can't stand something, change it yourself without bringing everyone into it to make a unneeded law.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
