Hey you,

I'm here to tell you how you are so special. Sometimes I think you doubt your abilities, yet it is so blatantly obvious to anyone who knows you, how talented you are. You were blessed with so many gifts, my friend. You need only look and you would see what everyone else already does. However, I’m going to share with you my two favorites.

You have the biggest heart of perhaps anyone I have ever met. You would rather let yourself suffer than have those around you bear the pain that you carry around. You’ll deny it until the day you die, but I know that you care about everyone. You strive to make all happy because you know what it feels like to be in true agony, and you would never wish that on your worst enemy. You have seen so much in your life, more than most see in their completeness. I wish there was a magic wand I could wave to take it away. What most amazes me about you is that, despite everything, you continue to let people in and to cherish those who accept your love. I see your heart in action in the way you care for your family or ask me about my day.

You are the best listener. I could take a lesson from you in this department. When I talk to you, I feel like I have your full attention. I know you genuinely care about what I have to say, and that is so rare. You know me better than most. You know my flaws, my strengths, my greatest fears, and my family situation. You never failed to make me feel better when I would share those intimate details with you. I will never forget when I told you in the car how I had been on anti-depressants because I was suicidal. You texted me later and told me how much I meant to you, and that you would kill me if I ever did anything. That little gesture changed my whole world. I can never explain to you what you did for me.

These qualities make you the person that you are, the person that I am so grateful to call my best friend. They are the reason I know you will succeed in whatever you do during this life. I have complete confidence that you could conquer the world if you wanted. The sky is truly the limit for you, and I am so lucky to be a small part of your journey. You make the world a better and brighter place and I hope you never forget it. Don’t sweat the trivial things. Ditch class if you have to, have some fun, because you’re going places kid. Don’t worry if you don’t believe it, I believe in you enough for the both of us.
