Dear Sister,
You have been there for every single step of my life. You had no clue what to expect when a screaming new baby invaded your house at 16 years old. You chose to love me, care for me, and be there whenever I needed you. You became my stand-in mom. You go above and beyond to make sure everyone is taken care of before yourself. And you never take credit for anything you do.
Thank you.
Thank you for the after school ice-cream runs. My first day of college didn't feel right without that trip to Jack's or Dari-Delite for a milkshake or banana split.
Thank you for the many hours spent on pageant/prom hair and makeup. There's no way to count the time spent curling, twisting, and pinning hair — or the money spent on prom accessories, flowers, and dresses. Thank you for always being in the audience to cheer me on, and to wipe my tears when the outcome wasn't what I wanted.
Thank you for being invested in my success as a student and a person. I wouldn't want to struggle through Cal I problems with anyone else.
Thank you for teaching me how to be an adult. I never thought I'd thank you for making me call the doctor to make my own appointments, or recover my lost license alone. My white rug would be brown, and my duvet would never get washed if it wasn't for you.
Thank you for being an amazing role model, spiritually and in life. You have always been so uplifting and made me want to be a better version of myself. You are a Proverbs 31 woman and I strive to be like you.
Thank you for giving me two little nephews to spoil and love on. Those little guys are two of the biggest blessings in my life, even when they are waking me up from my coveted afternoon naps.
Thank you for always believing in me and supporting my dreams, even when they aren't realistic. I wouldn't have had the courage to move out of state for school if you hadn't pushed me. And I definitely wouldn't have been able to move my ridiculous amount of belongings to Mississippi by myself.
Thank you for always having my best interest at heart. You may tell me things I don't want to hear, but you're always right when it comes to what is best for me.
Thank you for always listening. I cherish the moments spent curled up on the couch with you talking way past midnight about anything and everything under the sun.
Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on. Whether it was boy trouble, friend drama, or Daddy hurting my feelings, you are always there to catch the tears.
Thank you for everything I'm forgetting. I'm so blessed to be your sister and so grateful that you do all things for me.
Love,
Your Baby Sis
