An Open Reminder To The Human Population,

Picture it! Feel it! Remember it! Love it! And let it be! You probably are wondering what I am referring to when I say “it”.

Picture the glow of the good in this world. Picture yourself years from now, side by side with your blooming “tiny” family. Picture the glimmer of life on your child’s smiling face. Picture your grandmothers smile. Picture a successful new year. Picture the days you just can’t stop smiling. Picture the joy of other people, and share their joy. Picture a new you. Picture the blossom of a new day, and realize you are worthy. Capture those moments in your heart and hold on to them.

Feel the love children have for one another. Feel someone else’s happiness, and work on feeling happy with them! Feel everything fall apart and come back together more complete than they ever were before. Feel empathy. Feel sadness because without a day or two of sadness, it’s impossible to truly embrace the feeling of happiness. Feel the beat in your chest when you wake up every morning and recognize that its more than just a thud, thud, thud… it's purpose.

Remember to remind yourself that despite the puzzling and complex feeling of being broken, you are not broken, you're just getting ready to bloom because all seeds must crack before growing in a strong force of nature. Remember to always bloom with grace, wisdom, and kindness.

Remember to jump mountains for people, even if they don’t do the same for you. Remember who you were before anyone ever shattered your heart and blew it away like an inconvenient piece of dust that once was attached to them.

Remember who you were before the world told you who to be. Love the chaos. Love the mistakes. Love new chapters in life. Love those who did you wrong because they are most likely waking up each morning feeling like thorns are clutching their heart and bricks are grounding their feet.

Let the wind sweep you off your feet and take you on the correct path. Let other people love you. Let you love yourself. Let moments just be moments. Let time fly by. Let yourself realize nothing is here to stay forever. Let your heart hurt and then heal. Let your mind overthink. Let life be because you are just along for the ride.

Let your life hit the point where you can look back and watch how everything that happened make perfect sense. Why do all this stuff? Because I believe in you. I love you. And I know you will succeed at all you do. Remember success comes in all forms.

You got this. Seize life’s moments!

XOXO,

Your fellow Earthmate

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
