An Open Letter To Your Person

My Person,

Coming into college, I did not think I would find someone as amazing as you. All my life I have been waiting to meet you and to finally find someone who is just like me but is also my better half is incredible. Finding you on bid day was the best thing about that day (besides getting into the best sorority). Little did I know, us being silly and making small talk would lead to a beautiful friendship.

You made my freshman year great. It wasn't always easy, but I knew you would be there by my side, no matter what. Going to hangout at the house as a new member was always awkward, but with you my by side it was a little less awkward. Social events were always fun, but with you by my side, the were even more fun. Navigating the library and the student union as a little freshman could have bee scary and intimidating, but with you by my side, I knew I could take on the world.

You always let me vent and cry to you about anything without any judgement and occasionally give me advise even though you know I probably will not take it because I think my idea is better. You let me be my weird self and laugh at my own really lame jokes. Even though I can not dance, you let me to think that I am Beyonce. You lift me up when I am down about school, boys, or stupid drama. You act like my mom when I need taking care of or if I need my hair straighten because we both know that sometimes #IJustCan't.

When we are both in crazy and hectic seasons of our lives, you still make time to get lunch with me or to talk to me on your way to class for five minutes, just to know what's going on with me in my life. And that is because you care. So thank you. Thank you for caring, even know no one else does.

You are the Lo to LC. You are the Yang to my Grey. You are the Blair to my Serena (even though neither us our blonde). You are my person.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
