Being the oldest is bittersweet. I have freedom, I go different directions all the time and am always busy with either friends or school work. Despite all the perks, I experience constant pressure being the older one. Having more responsibility comes at a high price sometimes.
However, I know both of my younger sisters will be right there for me. No matter what age I may be, I can and will always have someone to fall back on, and they can expect the same from me.
Thank you. Those two words are so little, but mean everything I’m about to say.
Without you, I would’ve never have become the person I am today. As cliché as it sounds, it couldn’t be more true.
You both keep me grounded and bring me down to earth when my head is in the clouds. You know what to say at the right moment even if I don’t think I need any advice at all.
We might all look alike, but we’re all different in personality which balances us out. One of us wants to go into fashion, another in the medical field, and one that’s a beautiful mystery. Our minds are opposites, but when together, they create some of the most intricate thoughts and ideas.
As I rest in my dorm room, I think about how much I miss you. It may not seem like it, but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of one silly moment we’ve had or one great adventure we’ve made.
Living in the Big Apple is something I’ve wanted for too long and for a great deal of time, it’s not something I thought I would achieve. You both knew all along that this is where I’m meant to be. And the biggest sacrifice I made was saying goodbye to you so I could live it out.
I call my mom or dad several days a week and always here of all the great things you're doing. When I came home for fall break a few weeks ago, I looked at you both and noticed how much you both changed since I saw you in August. You look as if you’ve gotten taller and speak with more intelligence than ever before.
Sisters have their moments, and most certainly fight, but I honestly wouldn’t want it any other way. We’re human after all.
You both were there during some of my more tough times, in school and when I struggled to make friends in middle school and high school. I put you on the highest pedestal out there.
As we age, we'll all be doing different things in our life, but we'll stay connected. We’ll meet new people, find love, have amazing careers and so much more. And we’ll be there for every moment.
I’m watching you grow in more ways than one every day and know from the bottom of my heart that I lucked out.
I can’t wait to see what other achievements you accomplish and for more adventures to come.
To everyone out there with a little sister, hold onto them tight. They’re an irreplaceable blessing that will be there with you for every major event in your life, either physically or spiritually. Know that they are pure in the love they give to you and that there is no greater thing.
I love you.
