"A sister is a little piece of childhood that can never be lost."
Sis,
You have truly been there through the good, the bad, and the ugly. Despite finally having a baby sister to bully and boss around, you chose to become my best friend. (Well lets face it, you do enjoy being bossy at times, but I know you can't help it because it's in your very nature as an older sister).
You were always the one I looked up to, my complete opposite yet the one who I would never be whole without. You kept me honest by being able to read right through me. You kept me sane by being able to make me laugh with just one look. And you kept me strong by being by my side throughout every step of the way.
You have experienced the painful breakups, the grief of death, and the beauty of Salvation. You taught me that it is okay to be hurt and to be sad. But more importantly you taught me that no matter how small life makes you feel, our God is so much greater than our suffering. You taught me to come to you whenever a boy breaks my heart. You didn't exactly say why, but you just smiled and said you'd take care of it, so I'll trust you will do just that.
You are the one who avidly defended me whenever I was "attacked." You patiently became my tutor, pretending to know how to do word problems until I was convinced you were a mathematical genius. You made sure that I was tough, although knocking out my tooth with your fist was not the method I would have preferred. But hey, it got the job done.
You made the dreadfully dreary days of high school less so, by taking me out for ice-cream, pizza, chips, chocolate, and soft pretzels. All in one outing. And there is no one else I would rather blast T-Swift with, the windows down, circling the block just to belt out one more song. You could say one quote from Harry Potter, and throughout the next hour we would have quoted at least twenty of our favorite movies all while keeping up a meaningful conversation.
You are the epitome of joy, casting light upon all of the dark spaces as soon as you enter a room. Your sincerely radiant heart has consistently helped me to see past the negativity in my own life. You fill the lives of those around you with laughter and every good thing you can. You truly are a ray of sunshine, yet I know you have difficult days too. While you may cry or rant to me for hours, you never let a trial keep you from spreading the love of Christ to those around you.
You have been my companion, playmate, protector, instigator, comedian, counselor, and friend. Numerous roles that form a single, unbreakable bond-- sisters.
Love,
Your little sis
