An Open Letter To My Workfriends

Dear fellow ladies,

Let's be honest, you all are some of my best friends so you are more than coworkers--you are my workfriends. I am so blessed and so thankful to have been working with all of you for over a year now. I know sometimes I'm a handful and need to just shut up and get things done, but you put up with me anyway. You know more about some aspects of my life than my family and that's saying a lot when I like to keep all my social circles separate. You've been there for me when I've come into work in tears and when I've come in with a smile on my face. I know this is not the case for every workplace so I'm happy and proud to call you my friends and not just coworkers.

I've learned a lot about life and just being a good person from being in your presence and spending time with you wonderful women and I could never be thankful enough. The stories and experiences we share with each other have truly helped me become a better person. It's no exaggeration when I say that my job is one of the best jobs possible. I love working with all of you and I love our teamwork. All of us are so supportive of each other and generous--it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Some weeks the thing I look forward to most is coming in to work and getting to work with all of you and spreading our positive energy. You all are truly a blessing on my life and I am so blessed to be a part of the team. I am so happy that some of the best memories I have are of our team bonding nights having dinner or a pizza party or wearing ugly Christmas sweaters. We all know those customers and orders that give us a bit of trouble and honestly with my temper, I need people like you to keep me grounded. Everybody is constantly spreading positive vibes and you can truly feel it as you walk in the door.

Our team is truly one of a kind and I don't think I'll ever quite find a group of coworkers like this one. We all help each other when the time comes and are their to celebrate each other's successes as well. I'm so glad to have been welcomed into this loving environment and hopefully I have been doing well and passing on the same energy to newer employees. I hope I'm living up to the standards that you are setting before me. I hope I am not bringing them down. I hope I am not a disappointment, and that I'm as much of an asset to the group as you make me feel. I hope that if and when I have to leave, I will still be welcome to visit. But until then, I am thankful for every minute and every shift I have. I am thankful I have a job and not to mention an incredible group of women to work with. I am inspired to be a better person every day because of all of you and I could never say thank you enough.

Yours gliterally,

Bhakti

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
