Dear Stepdad,

I'm forever thankful for you walking into my mom's and my lives.

At first, it was weird, knowing I would have two dads. I honestly thought it would bring some trouble, but I don't know what I'd do without you. You came into our lives and took on a challenge not many people would or even could. Instead of just loving one person, you fell in love with her daughter, too. When you married my mom, you made two promises. One to love and cherish my mother for eternity, and two to be the best stepdad to me you could ever possibly be - and I think you've done a pretty good job at both.

Throughout the years of knowing us, you've done so much for me.

You're one of my biggest supporters, biggest fans, and I will always cherish everything you do. You've helped me through so many of my problems throughout life and even when I was out of control, you stayed and didn't give up on me. You've always seen me as your daughter and I will forever look up to you as one of my fathers.

Even with struggles with both of my parents, you always gave the best advice.

From helping me with issues with my father to struggles with my mother you've always been there. You have helped me with college decisions and helping me find a major that I'll enjoy for the rest of my life. When I'm struggling, I know I can just send you a text and you'll always help me through every decision.

You've always seen the best in me.

Even when I was making bad decisions, you pointed them out and tried to help me find ways to better my future. You've helped me in sports. You always watched my cheer dances that I would make up even if you didn't like cheerleading. You came to every football game just to watch me cheer because I know you didn't come to watch my high school team always lose. And let's not forget about softball - the number of hours we spent practicing and helping me with my stance, throwing around the ball because we both had to stretch our arms out for the upcoming season.

I want to thank you for loving my mother more than anything.

It makes me beyond happy knowing how happy you guys make each other. The way you guys are always laughing, smiling, and joking around with each other. She's so lucky to have an amazing guy like you. Watching you guys together made me realize how I want my future relationship to be. You both have shown me what I deserve in a relationship and how I want to be treated one day.

Thank you for raising me to be the best I could ever dream of being.

You raised me to be a good person, stand up for what I believe in, a strong work ethic, and to always do the right thing. You've taught me so much and you'll continue to teach me every day. You've stood by my side since day one. You've been through every heartbreak, every friendship I had, pretty much everything my whole life. You've taught me how to be strong and to not take crap from people. You've taught me so much more than you can imagine. Without you, I don't know where I'd be, and I'm forever thankful to have such an amazing stepdad like yourself.

Thank you for the unbreakable bond we will always share.

You keep doing you, love you always

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
