To my little sister,
I never knew you could have so much love for someone until you came along. From the day you were born, my life changed for the better. You are my automatic go-to, partner-in-crime, my confidant and everything else in between. There are so many things I've taught you and so many you have yet to learn and I can't wait to watch you continue to gain the knowledge of the world around you.
You've grown into a young woman right in front of my eyes and I can't believe it all happened so fast. I feel like just the other day we were playing dress up in our old house and I blinked and here you are now, dressing up to go hang out with boys. There are so many things I want for you in life. I put my complete trust and faith in you that you will learn from my many mistakes and never have to go through the struggles I did. I can't wait to see your impact on those around you.
There are some things you obviously still need to learn, and mistakes you still need to make. But don't you worry; I'll be right behind you to pick you up when you fall.
Believe it or not, there are going to be things in life that you're going to go through that I never had to experience myself, but even then, will I have your back.
The one thing I need you to promise me is that you will still always come to me with your problems, whether it's with mom, a friend or a boy. And every time you come to me, I'll try and give you the best advice I can. I know it can be hard to be the younger sister, because you don't get to do everything that I do or have done, but believe me, your time will come soon, sunshine.
At some point, you'll be all grown up, and I can't believe that that day may be sooner then we both would like to think it is. You just always have to remember that I'm trying my hardest to show you right from wrong, so you don't have to follow in my broken footsteps.
But for now, here's the best advice I can give you:
- Friends come and go, but family is forever.
- Cherish every moment you have with mom and dad, because one day you won't be around them every day.
- Do your homework and study for everything. It'll help you in the long run, even if you don't think it will.
- You catch more flies with honey then you do vinegar, meaning be nice to everyone you meet, and, chances are, they'll be nice back.
- Smile often, laugh until you cry and love unconditionally.
- Do what makes you happy, no matter what anyone says
Just always remember, it's us against the world, no matter what.
Love always and forever,
Your big sister
