An Open Letter To My Boyfriend

Wise men say, only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you.

An Open Letter To My Boyfriend

You've shown me, in a short amount of time, that you love me for everything that I am. You make sure I receive nothing less than the best. You're down for everything as long as I'm happy. I can't thank you enough.

I've never had to tell you how I should be treated. You look at me and you know my worth. I don't care about any material object and you know that. You shower me with all your love every single day and I live for that. For me, your affection and the respect you have towards me says it all.

We're not attached at the hip, but we don't have to be. You're always making sure I'm safe and being taken care of. I know that if I need you, you're there (even if that's in the middle of the night). You support everything I want to do and you'll do anything to help me (just like I will for you). You motivate me to do anything when I start to feel like I'm losing hope.

I love how I can talk to you about anything and everything. We may not agree about some things, but I know we can always have a great conversation and find a solution. You're also super funny and I love the way you laugh even though my jokes can be corny at times. You help me be more outgoing and free with my life. Because of you, I really can express myself without holding back. You even brought out my love for writing again. I guess that's why a lot of my poems are about you.

You don't need to tell me you love me. The way you look at me, the way you talk about me, the way you hold me, and the way you worry about my happiness says it all.

I know that I don't look my best when I wake up and sometimes my face can play games with me but you never fail to remind me of how beautiful I am. There are days when my attitude can make the whole day rocky, but you look past that and you help me sort everything out rather than push me away.

I'm not perfect, no one is, but you would choose to help me and work things out with me than to throw it all away.

This letter only touches on the beginning of what i'd like to say to you or how I feel about you. The rest of how I feel is endless. Your love for me only fills my heart and makes it more full. You've opened my eyes to something I didn't know I was missing and you make everything seem so effortless. I'm grateful God put you in my path. Only He knows why we were meant to meet and I thank Him every day for that.

You're not only my boyfriend, you're my best friend, my partner in crime, my love, literally everything rolled up into one.

Thank you for being you. I could not have asked for anyone else to be next to at the moment and no matter where life and God takes us, you'll always have a special place in my heart. You have made an immense impact in my life.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
