Hey you,

We haven’t met yet, I’ve never spoken to you, but I know who you are. I hear about you all the time, though, I know endless stories about you and I’m sure you know just as many about me. Going away to college the one thing I didn’t anticipate was my best friend having a new best friend. But she does and well that’s you. You are her go-to person during the week, the person she laughs with at 2 a.m. now, you go on lunch dates with her, you have sleepovers with her, you are her new me in a way but not at all.

Now I’m not saying you replaced me because she is still my best friend too. She and I have a bond that you guys never will, and not saying that is a bad thing. She and I have been through life together, she and I were the dynamic duo in high school. She was there when I made the varsity soccer team, she was there through all the high school classes that I struggled with, she was there when we were applying for colleges, and she was there for everything in between. She is the reason I am who I am today and I am forever grateful to have her in my life, but now I can not be there all the time.

I cannot be there when she is drunk and need someone to hold her hair, I can not be there when the boy she is in love with breaks her heart, I can not be there when she needs a Panera run or some Chick fil A (and just so you know she always needs both of those).

So I have a few tips for you as her new best friend:

1. She is such a blanket hog. It might be the fact that I am too, but we use to always fight over blankets whenever we would share a bed. She would always win though so just to give you a heads up she will punch you for the blanket.
2. She will always order a sandwich meal large with a diet lemonade from Chick fil A. (make sure you order them with pickles because she likes the taste but for some reason she always takes them off) Surprise her she loves that meal and I swear she can live off of that honestly. Just bring that to her whenever she may be feeling low
3. She tells horrible jokes and stories. They are so corny and her stories never have a plot line but it makes it better that she gets so excited over all of them so just laugh even if you are laughing at how lame it is
4. She’s a secret nerd and you just need to accept it. This girl loves her One Direction as much as she loves her Supernatural and Doctor Who. Honestly, she is such a closet nerd but that is the best part of her. So I would suggest at least giving those shows a try even if they aren't your style, she will love the effort.

Even if you didn't need those tips please keep them in mind. Now you take care of her because even though I am not there all the time anymore she is still my person and well now I guess she is yours too.
