Dear little brother,

I love you. Thank you for being my first and greatest best friend. Thank you for supporting me through every down, and celebrating with me during every up. Thanks for picking me up when I was sad or upset, and reminding me of my worth when I needed it. Thank you for keeping the spirit of everyday life alive with your humor, your kindness, and the ability you have to make moments together special. I don’t think you grasp how important you are to me, or how much I care for you – and you may never. The comprehension it would take to put into quantification the connection we hold or the love we share as siblings is an impossible task.

Thank you for fighting with me, and making up with me. Thank you for being around to pester me, and to remind me to not take the world or myself too seriously. Thank you for growing up with me, and growing together with me – with too many incredible memories to account for, I consider myself extremely blessed to have a built in partner to experience them with. Never take for granted the part you have played (and will continue to play) in turning me into the person I am today. Without my personal pep squad, supporter, and best friend all rolled into one conveniently available human, I would have never made it through what it has taken to get this point in my life thus far. I need you and I truly could not imagine a life for myself that doesn’t include you in it.

Thanks for being the wind beneath my wings (as cheesy as that cliché metaphor sounds) when I needed it, and for always having my best interests at heart. I know that I can trust you with anything and everything, and that we would do whatever needed to be done for one another if it was what was needed. I love spending time with you, and although we are getting harder, and our schedules busier by the hour, I will never not have time for you. Thanks for always sticking up for me, and for being my protector. I feel safe when I have you around me, and I consider myself lucky to have a person like that in my life. Know that I will love you forever and regardless of who comes into and goes out of our lives, we always have each other. You are the greatest, most creative, intelligent, kind, and talented person I have ever had the privilege of knowing – never change. Thanks for being you, you’re the greatest little brother anyone could ever ask for and I truly don’t know how I got to be so lucky.

Love you so much.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
