Open Letter to Donald Trump

Now is not your time. We won't be relegated to the kitchen. We won't be imprisoned to a life where we have no choice of our bodies. We are screaming sexism is NOT okay.

Open Letter to Donald Trump

Make America great again?

We knew exactly what you were trying to say when you made this your slogan. In past history there has been many many hardships in which women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community has faced. It wasn't so great for them, the only people that seemed to rise were white men.

You.

We have come such a long way from when America was "great".

We aren't going back, we can't.

We won't be silenced anymore.

We won't be stuck in a life where we have no control or choice in what we do with our bodies.

I am not measured by the waist I have or the size bra I wear.

Telling women that they aren't a ten out of ten because they may be flat chested or calling us pigs, bimbos, and only looking at us like we are mindless zombies walking around only made to please men. Only made to please

You.

You told us that we must receive consequences if we have an abortion. You also want to defund planned parenthood. Who are you to tell us what we should do with our bodies? You aren't a woman and you have no idea what it is like to be one. You are male privileged.

We will not be demeaned anymore and we will certainly not be relegated to the kitchen.

We won't accept your response to sexual harassment.

We will not be solely ridiculed by our appearances or judged because of the shape of our bodies or our weight.

We are raising sons and teaching them that it is okay to show their feelings and that you will not be destroyed if you are told that you play like a girl, throw like a girl, or act like a girl. We aren't teaching them that they are only measured by the girl that they have slept with. That it is cool to touch girls or women inappropriately. We are setting them from of this societal "man box" that society has imprisoned them in.

We have to undo what you are showing boys is okay to do.

We are raising daughters and teaching them to fight back against people like you. That they are not only measured by the beauty of their skin, but what is inside them. Their beautiful personalities is what matters the most. Not the size of their chest or the size of their jeans. That they are not an object. That they can be something greater than the jobs deemed by society's gender roles.

We are done with the constant "catcalling". So please don't sexualize me for going on a run. Let me run in peace.

We are coming together in solidarity when rapists don't receive consequences or any repercussions at all because we do not want to harm their reputations and we are left to suffer alone because we were too drunk, our clothing was deemed provocative and we couldn't keep out knees together. This is what you are showing men is okay to do. You are also showing women how they should behave in a certain way and that there is no other reason they were made on this earth but to simply satisfy

You

and bear children.

We see your racism, bigotry, and sexism. We are screaming at the top of our lungs that sexism is NOT okay and never will be.

Maybe the 1950's or the 1930's would have been a better time for

You

When blacklisting, McCarthyism, when this image shown below was the anthem for men during this era and to you still is.

Now is not your time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
