Dear America,

I'm going to be completely and utterly blunt here. What happened on November 8 shocked both parties. Now is not a time to be against each other either. Overall, we need healthy discussion and I am here to provide just that. My advice is to read this. Wholeheartedly. It may be a tough pill to swallow to get rid of a 'safe-space' but this is much needed for everyone to hear. The following two letters are for both parties to read. I encourage you to read your party's view first, and then read the letter addressed to the other party. It is extremely important that you do this because it shows you the truth that we all need to face. My prayer is that this article can bring us together again as one.

Dear Conservative Heart,

As I sit here and see the results of the election, I am probably astonished as you are. Our Conservative values won, but we can not put down the other side for losing. We can not discriminate the minority, we as a Republican party are completely and utterly better than that. We don't care if you are Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, German, or Irish. We need to admit that we are all Americans regardless of race, color, religion, or sexual orientation. As I sit here writing this I heard one thing that infuriated me as a Conservative today. While a girl and her friends were sitting and minding their own business someone stood up and said some things that no Conservative should ever say or even think for that matter. I am truly ashamed of our party's actions in this instance. It is not a time to call out minorities. It is a time to embrace them because that is what makes us the United States of America. That is what makes us a country full of life, full of the American Dream, and full of prosperity for our people. As we walk the next four years, we will face challenges, we will face adversity, we will ensure our party for the future and change the world in the process. Might I add, who you voted for is none of my business, I'm not here to ask that, but what I do want to do is congratulate you for going out to the polls and doing what many millennials didn't do and that was vote.

To the Progressive Mindset,

Tuesday night was rough for us, but in four years we will have our chance once again. I believe that civil, law-abiding protest is healthy, it is one of the bases of our Constitution as a first amendment right, but I completely and utterly do not agree with the burning of our nation's flag. The American Flag represents so much more than just a piece of cloth to me and to the veterans that served our nation. This flag represents brothers and sisters that took up arms and did not come back from places like Nazi Germany or Japan. This flag represents the men and women that protect us everyday both at home and abroad. This flag represents the People of the United States. This flag represents unity, diversity, veterans, and even the presidency. Without the thirteen stripes and the fifty stars in the field of blue we would not be the country that we are today. The second thing that I may add is that for only the fourth time in the nation's history the electoral college backfired, but it does add one important factor that many do not see. The current electoral college vote forces candidates for President to go to places like Iowa (6 EC Votes, 3.1 Million People*), rather than just campaign in California (55 EC 38.8 Million People*) or Texas (38 EC, 26.9 Million People*) and try to win with just a couple of states. For the majority of the time, this system works, but sometimes it fails like it did on November 8. Overall, I know that you disagree with the electoral college right now, I do too, but whether we like it or not, our next President will be Donald Trump and we must accept that.

To Everyone, Progressive and Conservatives Alike,

The world is watching us. We must tread lightly in the next few days. Racism, bigotry, not accepting an election, it is all another stone and a possibility of causing a civil war. I know for a fact that our forefathers who established this nation in 1787 with a new Constitution would be ashamed of us today. Both of us, Conservatives and Progressives are acting like children. It is time for us to grow up and be real adults in this situation that can respect one another's views. As you discuss things like national debt, taxes, etc., no matter what the other side says YOU ARE RIGHT. In your opinion anyway. We need to do something simple and that is to agree to disagree and go from there. Overall, debate is a healthy part of our democracy, without this notion, we would not have progressed over 226 years since the Constitution was written. I encourage you, go out and hear the other sides opinion because you would be surprised what you have in common. Now, as we stand together as one people I want to assure you this. No matter what happened, the sun will still rise tomorrow, our families will still be there with us, and that paper will still get done... eventually.

Sincerely,

An Honest American

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
