Dear Alzheimer's Disease,
First off, I wanted to let you know you are cruel. You take over people who are loved and cared for by a lot of people. For me, you are taking over my nana's life, slowly and painfully. In addition, you also ending up taking my grandma away from me on January 29, 2016. You didn't just affect one of my loved ones, you're affecting two of my loved ones and they happen to be my grandparents.
Secondly, I want to let you know that there are many people searching and supporting medical researchers to find a cure to kill you, just like you've killed many loved ones. You're a terrible disease that runs in many, many elderly people in many families. You're so common that almost every grandparent I know has to put up with you.
Also, you cause people to not even know who they are anymore, both mentally and physically. In the early stages, people that have you are somewhat there, but as time goes on, it gets worse to the point that they can't even remember their loved ones names or they call that person a familiar name they can remember.
Next, I want to say that just because you have seven different stages and three main stages doesn't mean you won't eventually be destroyed. Your 3 horrifying stages include: Mid-Alzheimer's disease (early-stage), Moderate Alzheimer's disease (middle-stage), and Severe Alzheimer's disease (late-stage).
In your early stage, the person that's dealing with you is still functioning normally and wanting to be independent while having trouble remember simple tasks or names. In your middle-stage, the person dealing with you is in this stage for the longest of the 3 stages where the person is moody/withdrawn and typically has a hard time remembering what day it is. In your late-stage, the person dealing with you typically requires full-time care and has a difficult time in communicating and acting independently.
Lastly, I would like to say that you not only cause pain on the person you're taking over, but on their family as well. I cannot begin to tell you how many times my family has been tossed and turned in multiple directions because you can't make up your mind on where you want to go. Your symptoms are constant and overbearing on the person's brain you're affecting. Some of the symptoms include memory problems, difficulty problem solving, difficulty concentrating, confusion with time or location, language problems, and changes in mood (depression or personality changes). Overall, nothing about Alzheimer's disease is positive.
Sincerely,
A girl that wants you gone for good
