They always say, “Make new friends and keep the old." Well, with going away to college, you never know what may happen to the relationships from your hometown. Often when going away, you get overwhelmed with the sudden change in your life, resulting in forgetting the friends that stuck by your side at home. Luckily, I have been so blessed to have kept my friendship with me after enduring our first year of college in our newfound homes. So, here is a thank you, a thank you for sticking by my side regardless of all the change that came about.

Being miles apart wasn't an easy task, but somehow we did it. We knew it was going to be a challenge leaving each other, mainly because we were used to being with each other at least five days of the week (sometimes more). Your dedication and commitment to our friendship this past year has shown me the meaning of a true friend.

Now I know that neither of us is exactly excited to be going back to Fond du Lac for the summer, but what makes it exciting is that we are able to pick up right where we left off. Not only does that mean endless ice cream dates, days at the beach, and baking nights, but the ability to deepen our friendship even more. I don’t think you know how much I appreciate you and your time and effort you put into our relationship. I know I am not the easiest person in the world to deal with, but you didn't give up on me, and that says a lot about you.

I realize we made new friends at college, but I think we can both agree that it does not compare to relationship we have. There is just something about the comfort of home and a major role in that is the friendships that go along with it. Coming home to see you throughout the school year has brought me nothing but joy. Seeing your face after a stressful semester filled with tests (more than we ever imagined) and changes, made me realize how grateful I should be that you never once thought of leaving, regardless of if we both were losing our mind. The constant texts, FaceTime calls, letters, and care packages made the days go by faster. I just want you to know how grateful and appreciative I am of your friendship and the effort you put into it to make sure it doesn't fail.

We have made it through our first year apart from each other and there is not a doubt in my mind that we can make it through anything. So, this one is for you! Thanks for being such a beautiful friend and here's to years of friendship and memories to come.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
