An Open Letter To The Younger Me

What I want to say to my childhood self.

All the kids who were born in the 90's remember when the best shows were on Disney. We were always caught talking about The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana, and all the other ones we woke up early for just to watch.

But it is true, time does fly by.

All the characters we once knew are no longer and the shows that we used to watch are now off the air. Then we finally realize that we grew up and so did they. Once we decided to admit that as much as we might want it to, time doesn't slow down, we realized that we had to move on. We had to find new shows and new characters to fall in love with and when it came to it they would be gone too.

Growing up sucks.

Graduating High School I'm starting to look back at my childhood. Most often i find myself wanting to be back sitting on my couch, snuggled in a blanket, eating my breakfast wondering if Miley was going to choose Jesse or Jake or if Alex and Mason were going to get their happily ever after.

Those were the simpler days.

Now I have to worry whether or not I should bring something to my dorm or not.

Our hearts broke at the final episode of Hannah Montana when Miley and Lily went their separate ways.

In "Wherever I Go" by Miley Cyrus which was playing during the final scene she was right.

"Here we are now, Everything's about to change. We face tomorrow as we say goodbye to yesterday.A chapter ending but the stories only just begun. A page is turning for everyone. So I'm moving on, letting go, holding on to tomorrow. I've always got the memories while I'm finding out who I'm gonna be. We might be apart but I hope you always know you'll be with me wherever I go."

" Here we are now, Everything's about to change": Everything is about to change. I'm going from High School to college. It's a life changing experience.

"We face tomorrow as we say goodbye to yesterday": We're saying hello to adulthood as we say goodbye to our childhood.

"A chapter ending but the stories only just begun": You just completed a part of your life and now this is where the big things happen.

"So I'm moving on, letting go, holding on to tomorrow. I've always got the memories while I'm finding out who I'm gonna be": I'm moving on from everything I've ever know but when I leave I know I have the memories to help me find who I truly am and who I want to be.

"We might be apart but I hope you always know you'll be with me wherever I go": Once you cross the line into adulthood you hold your childhood and memories within you so you never lose them.

It's hard. Moving on and starting a new life. That's what we're doing. The friends we are going to meet in college don't know the younger you. They didn't see you when you had braces or when you had bangs or any of your other awkward moments in life. That's why you have to hold onto your childhood and your hometown and never forget them. It'll always be a part of you.

But nonetheless, It's our time to have fun. It's our time to spread our wings and fly. Miley was right in another part of the song when she said

"It's time to show the world we've got something to say. A song to sing out loud we'll never fade away."

Go out there and show the world what you got and make sure that what you do in life is never forgotten.

But always remember the younger you, the one who had all that fun and enjoyed the simpler things, they're still in there.

Remember to reach down and bring that younger you out sometimes to see what you have accomplished so they can see in the end it was all worth it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
