An Open Letter To Donald Trump

I Have Some Choice Words For You

Dear Mr. Trump,

I have some choice words for you, unfortunately, as this is a public article, I must show some censorship, however, I will not undermine my deep feelings of anger at your heinous attitudes and beliefs pertaining to certain subjects. As a citizen of the United States, it is my right to say that you are not fit to run America and for many good reasons. Although you are a great businessman, you lack some qualities needed to be president including honesty, self-control, and tolerance. America needs someone who is able to handle situations without getting defense when someone does not agree with everything you say. America needs someone who can be honest and straightforward no matter how horrible the situation may be. We do not need someone who will deviate from the truth.

As far as equality goes, you show very little indication that you want America to be a country where everyone is treated with the same rights with regards to gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Your words and actions strongly demonstrate your prejudice against same-sex couples and other members of the LGBTQ community by stating, “I'm not in favor of gay marriage. They should not be able to marry.” Although you claim to be “for” the LGBTQ community, your words prove otherwise. I have beautiful friends in the LGBT community and they deserved to have the same rights as heterosexual couples. America needs a leader who values the freedom and equality that is clearly guaranteed in our constitution.

Aside from your prejudice against the LGBTQ community and other ethnicities, you are also a misogynist. This is not the old days where women were treated as accessories and considered inferior to men. Your comments that pregnant women are an “inconvenience for businesses” is not only an insult to women but a sexist joke as well. I honestly do not know how you made it this far in the election, but congrats to you for trying to win over America with your bullsh*t (pardon my French). I am in no way saying that Hilary Clinton is much better, but she knows how to remain cool, calm, and collected when presented with a difficult situation. You couldn’t even control your tongue during the first presidential debate, which makes me wonder how you would handle other stressful situations if you become president.

If you truly want to “make America great again”, it’s time to put outside the racial slurs and inequality and start seeking out what is best for America rather than spreading lies to boost your morale. If you truly want to be the change that America needs, it is time that you consider the views from other groups instead of relying on those that conveniently match your beliefs. I want to live in America knowing that I am safe. I do not want to have to worry about walking down the street, wondering whether I’ll get shot because of the color of my skin.

I will never choose someone who claims to have America's best interest at heart but goes against everything America stands for. You must choose your words carefully if you want to be the next president. You should choose to love rather than hating an entire race. I hope you choose your battles wisely.

Sincerely,

The Girl Who's Had Enough

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
