To that very special teacher,
Thank you for undoing all the emotional baggage caused by another teacher who had constantly punished me, berated me and crushed my confidence in my intelligence or learning ability for reasons I do not understand to this day. It took time but your dedication and encouragement gave me a complete change in my confidence, understanding and my love of learning. Without you, I would have continued to hate school, hate teachers and hate learning, and I would not be who I am today.
Thank you for proving that some teachers do truly care and will go above and beyond to make students want to learn and want to succeed. It is teachers like you that keep students coming back to school and yearning to learn.
Thank you for taking the extra time after school to show me the magic of books. You took a girl who hated books and hated reading and gave me the keys to a world of wonder and imagination. I cannot begin to thank you enough for giving me a thirst for reading. It is something that has remained with me to this day and caused some of the greatest joy in my life. Reading is one of my greatest loves and favorite pastimes. My life would not be so full without books, and I would never have acquired the need to read without your encouragement.
Thank you for changing me from a subdued girl with little self-confidence in my intelligence, to a girl that loved to learn and yearned for education. I am now a college graduate with a Dual Bachelors in History and Law, and I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I have been accepted into Law School with a full-tuition scholarship. I yearn for learning and can't seem to make myself leave school. I read in every spare moment I can find and cherish every moment I can stick my nose in a book and let my imagination set flight.
My life would not have been the same without the dedication and encouragement of one very special teacher. My time in her classroom left me with a love for reading and learning that has served me throughout my life. I am forever grateful.
Thank you for changing my life,
The girl who never stops reading
