Dear little sis,

You start your senior year in a few weeks, and I wanted to write this letter to you before the craziness of the year starts.

First of all, good luck. Senior year is tough, but you're smart and I know you can do it. I can't wait to hear about your adventures.

As you go through your senior year, there are things that you must do, one being take pictures. Take pictures of everywhere and of everything. It will go by faster than you can imagine.

Use Facebook again. It might sound weird, but Facebook became one of my favorite social media sites because I could see pictures of my friends and see what they were doing at their schools. Also, your sister wants to see what you are doing, so a Facebook picture every once in a while is highly appreciated.

Make sure to really absorb it. Soon you are going to drive to school on your last first day of school. You are going to be forced to take your last first day of school pictures. But enjoy it; in a year you will be sending a first day of school selfie to your family instead of having them right by your side.

Try and enjoy the monotony of walking in the hall and seeing the same people you have seen since kindergarten. In a few months you won't see them again and will walk to class surrounded by people you have never seen before.

Enjoy writing the dreaded papers that your English class requires; eventually a five page paper becomes classwork, and you now are required to submit a 15 or 20 page paper as homework.

Enjoy the awkward school dances with terrible pictures; it's one of the last times you will dress up with your high school friends.

Enjoy not knowing where you are going to school; it's stressful in the moment, but don't worry, you will end up where you belong and you will absolutely love it!

Enjoy living at home, where the food is already bought, the pantry is constantly stocked and your laundry will always be fresh. In less than a year, you have to figure that out on your own.

Don't rush through your senior year; it only happens once and as a smart man once told me, the train will always take you where you need to go, but you need to enjoy the stops along the way.

I love you lots, you're an amazing girl and I can not wait to see where life takes you.

Love,

Your big sis ❤️

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
