Walking into that first day of recruitment, I never thought I would meet one of my best friends. I honestly believe God put you in front of me, like literally in front of me in the line to sign in. You nervously looked back at me waiting for me to speak, and I was nervous at first, but thankfully I said something. I’m sure I could have started out with something better than, “Am I in the right line?”, but it got us talking. I was so grateful that I made a friend because I did not know anyone there that was going through recruitment. Throughout the four days of rush week, I prayed that we would get chosen for the same house and be sisters. After you went home to a totally different sorority than me, I thought that would be the end of our new friendship. Luckily, you couldn’t get away from me that easily! To my surprise, we would soon become sisters but from different houses. Having a sister from another house sounded complicated at first but we have managed to make it work. That means twice the socials, twice the glitter, twice the sisters, and twice the formals to go to!
I will forever be grateful for you coming into my life. I love our weird friendship, even during the times you aren’t happy with me. You tell me what I need to hear, but you also love me for me. In the short time that I’ve known you, we’ve been through so much together. The few little arguments, the weekends at the dorms searching for food, the drama with boys, and of course us raiding each other’s closets. I’ve never had a friendship quite like the one I share with you. You can make me laugh by just one look, and I can’t do that with too many people. Plus, you always steal my food, or pick through whatever I’m eating. You never put me down, or make me feel small; you listen to me and support my crazy ideas. I feel like I should eventually start paying you for all the “therapy sessions” you give me. Also, nothing can compare to the amazing ache I feel when we laugh until it hurts. I never have to feel alone when you are around, or sad because you always pick me back up. I hope I am there to see you grow into the beautiful, successful woman I know you are. I want to be there when you have kids, and they can know me as the aunt that’s always bringing up crazy stories about their Mom. I just want you to know that you have made my life a whole lot brighter by walking into my life. I cannot wait to tell my future kids the many funny memories I share with you, like the time we almost died in my car! Even though we always get in trouble you’ve made this school year memorable. I hope you achieve everything you want in this life, and more. I know you will because you are so intelligent, and you have such a great heart. No matter what anyone tells you, you can become whatever you want to be. Even when people discourage your dreams, I want you to remember that I believe in you. I hope I get the chance to see what you become and the mark you leave on this world. Although we have different philanthropies, different views, and different letters; our hearts are the same. I know you have many sisters in your life, but you will always be the most important sister in my eyes. Thank you for being my sister from another house, and thank you for the big impact you’ve made on my life. You will always hold a special place in my heart, I love you.
