To my siblings:
I never thought I would see the day that I would want to thank you for all of the teasing, torture, pranks, and fights. But, today seems to be that day.
I have many things to thank you for, for acting as built-in role models in my life. I'm the luckiest child in this family, because I've been blessed with the biggest number of role models, idols, guiding lights, and friends to look up to. While it certainly comes with the price of being your guinea pig, punch line, social annoyance, and nagging younger sibling, I couldn't be more thankful for the way we are.
1. I want to thank you for all the times you made me cry. Even though I probably tattled on you and you got in trouble, you gave me a tougher skin to handle the real world.
2. I want to thank you for all the times you hung out with me when I was little. I understand that it must have been torture and you probably had a million cooler things to do. What you didn't realize is that it was the coolest thing for me to do, and I'll remember those moments forever.
3. I want to thank you for all the times you listened to Mom and Dad about dealing with me. I know it was difficult and annoying, but it felt incomparable to have somebody watching out for me at all times.
4. I want to thank you for all the times you paved the way with Mom and Dad and saved me from getting in trouble. You're especially awesome for that.
5. I want to thank you for all the times you stuck up for me when I didn't even realize what you were doing. Maybe you thought you were being sneaky or that I wouldn't find out, but I know deep down that you care, and I can't thank you enough for that.
6. I want to thank you for all the times you said you hated me. I know that, maybe in those seconds, we really did hate each other, but I also know that, maybe in those seconds, we got so angry because we care about each other so much.
Years and years have gone by in our family and I've always been in your shadow. But honestly, there's no place that I would rather be. If I can live up to how you hold yourselves, love others, and succeed, I don't mind getting to follow in your footsteps.
And I hope you don't mind that, either, because you're stuck with this little one.
Love,
Your Youngest Sibling
