On March 21, 2016, @_blotty took the Twitter world by storm with the news of her poop story. She told the story in just 18 tweets that Monday night, and the story has been liked and retweeted thousands of times since it was published on her page. The story is no typical poop story and can be found in its correct timeline in BuzzFeed's article. After reading this story, I was, at first, shocked. It wasn't until later that I realized how much respect I have for this Twitter user. Without further ado, here is an open letter of my appreciation and respect for @_blotty.
Dear Poop Girl,
I know you are not officially deemed the "Poop Girl," but that is what you have become for me (and for many other people). I hope that you do not take any offense to this letter — it is a very serious letter from my heart. I thank you for so many reasons.
I thank you for being strong and confident in a situation of terror.
Since you have spoken out about your experience, I have been motivated to conquer any situation in my day-to-day life. If you can pull yourself together in such a shitty situation (yes, that's punny), then I should at least be able to wake up for my 9:30 a.m. class two times per week.
I thank you for making light of a situation and actually making fun of yourself.
I have always been the person to make fun of myself in daily situations that I act a fool in, but now you are making that the popular thing to do! I will no longer be looked at as if I'm in some endless spiral of depression because I have "been hard on myself." Those days are over.
I thank you for being honest on your social media.
Twitter is full of lies and gossip just for the likes and retweets; however, you're breaking that stereotype. You have original tweets (such as your poop story) that everyone loves to read. I have always tried to be honest and not steal jokes from others just for the attention, and now I have someone to look up to who has that same goal.
I thank you for having a close relationship with your sister.
Not only did you pull yourself together in your situation but you also texted your sister for advice! Wow. You're independent and strong enough to get out of this situation but also still ask your sibling for advice. I hope that I can have that kind of relationship with both of my siblings in the future. I'm pretty sure they would think I'm a freak for asking them a question about poop, but your sister plays along with it and gives you advice anyways.
All in all, I just really love you and what you've done with the situation you were put in.
Keep being awesome, Poop Girl.
