An Open Letter To My Pledge Sisters

"It ain't always pretty but it's real, that's the way we were made. Wouldn't have it any other way. These are my people."

An Open Letter To My Pledge Sisters

So I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to start this letter and all I can think about is how I cannot believe how fast two years have flown by. Two years ago, although I was already settled in to my new life as a freshman in college, I was still trying to find my place. I was always interested in Greek life, but I never was certain if it was something I would actually do. However, at the start of Spring 2014 I found myself seriously looking into it and when I got my bid it changed my life forever, in the best way possible.

I had just fallen in love with an amazing group of women I couldn't wait to call my sisters, and now I was introduced to twelve other girls who were in the same boat as I was. I think back to the first day we were all together, some of us knew each other already some of us knew no one. Despite knowing we were all about to get to know each other, I don't think any of us expected to get as weirdly and greatly close as we all did. Twelve other girls who would become not only my sisters but truly my best friends. The thirteen of us are thirteen different individuals with our own personalities, minds, lives and hearts but I truly believe we were meant to cross paths: We were meant to be one.

Thank you for what seemed to be overnight, becoming my life lines. Thanks for laughing at my jokes, even when I know sometimes they aren't that funny. Thank you for giving me someone to have constant breakfast, lunch, dinner and of course dessert dates with. Most importantly, I appreciate you all for never turning down Dunkin Donuts or Madison's. Thank you for never judging my nap schedule (at least not too much) and thank you for giving me both the best nights out and the best nights in.

Thank you for always being there to listen to all of my stories or rants and embracing me for me, even if sometimes you might shake your head at me. Thank you for letting me into your closets and for stopping me when I'm blowing too much money at the mall. Thank you for all of the random adventures and road trips and thank you for scream singing in the car with me.

Thank you for never letting me think for a second I can't reach any goal I set my sites on. Thank you for being the ones that constantly motivate, inspire, and support me. Thank you for the late night library sessions and never saying no when I ask for a hi-liter. Thank you for always picking me up when I'm down and being my biggest cheerleaders when I'm up.

Thank you for being a shoulder to cry on and to laugh on. Thank you for being crazier than I am and always being down to either kick or call someone out if needed. Thank you for keeping my life a little extra exciting, especially because of the group me.

Thank you for being you, thank you for the memories and thank you for the future that I know is about to come.

I don't know how or when we got to be this old but in only a few months some of us will be graduating, and next year will be the rest of us. I really don't know how I survived without you all in my life and it'll be interesting trying to survive without you. I'll always be incredibly proud to know each and every one of you and I couldn't be more proud of all we have accomplished and all that we will, individually and together.

So- Woodstock, Ravens, Smirnoff, Pixie, Spiral, Gem, Loopy, Blackout, Garnet, Tweety, Scrabble and Luna:

No matter where in the world life takes us, you are all my forever.

13 in and 13 out.

xoxo Malicious

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
