When we stop and think about it, most of us can identify a few people in our lives who can't seem to catch a break. Whether this is yourself, a family member, or a friend, this is obviously something you wish you could change. It's easy to wish things could change, but the reality is that magic genies aren't real and simply wishing things away is unlikely to change things. An alternative perspective on our life struggles, however, may change you more than you'd think.
So, to those people in our lives who we're "wishing extra" for, this is a note for you:
You've been through it all--heartbreak, loss, tragedy, frustration, and probably everything in between. You probably feel like the word "stress" should be permanently tattooed to your forehead; I completely understand. Under no circumstances am I belittling your stress level, but rather suggesting a less stressful way to view things.
It's easy to get down on yourself at times when life throws you a curveball (especially a few in a row); after all, we're all only human. But as corny as it sounds, that is precisely the time you need to learn to love and support yourself the most. You need to remind yourself that your life experiences are what have shaped you into who you've become and who you strive to be in the future. You wouldn't be where you are in your life without the path you've taken to get there. And without every imperfection over the course of your life, you may not be the person who you are today.
We need to start learning to take every heartache, heartbreak, or difficulty in our life as a lesson--an experience to learn and grow from. I know, this is challenging.
But I've got news for you: you can do it. In fact, you're the best kind of people without even knowing it.
You may feel like you've been stepped on a little more than the rest, but you hold a unique place in our lives. You're the kind of people who don't take a single thing for granted and understand the words "support" and "friends" like no other. You know how to have a deep conversation with someone you care about, and you understand others' feelings a little extra. You are the ones that the rest of the world should admire for their strength and learn from every day.
Unsurprisingly, you have a deeper appreciation for every dollar made, every smiled cracked, and every tear shed. You make it easy for people to talk to and relate to and you probably don't even realize it.
Basically, to sum it all up, stay strong. You rock. Don't change.
