Dear Near-Future Self,
I imagine you're just about settled into your first apartment. I bet you're sitting in your room, trying to take all this in, as you realize that you're on your own for the first time in your life. Because in a couple of days, you're starting your very first paid internship and it's away from home. Now, whether you know your roommates or not, I hope you guys get along. Mostly, I hope you create amazing memories.
There's so much about to change for you, but I want to remind you to be smart about your money. Don't take advantage of what you have and spend it frivolously. It doesn't grow on trees and when you spend it, you have less of it. And please try to eat healthfully. Chicken, salad and un-bunned burgers will be your best friend...Although there is probably a Chipotle or Taco Bell nearby. You really should try not to indulge yourself with that, though. Burritos and tacos are deathly addictive.
I hope you're going to be better with keeping in touch with everyone too. Call home once in a while and don't be afraid to make plans. Adulthood is right around the corner. I hope you keep in touch with your friends and you don't get lazy as you're about to go into your final semester of college.
This next year is going to be a total roller coaster. You're graduating in six months. Then what are you going to do? Yeah...you should probably start figuring that one out...But this whole getting old thing is probably going to start kicking in soon. You'll probably be grumpy and a bit sad. Growing up is scary as hell, and who knows if you're prepared. Do not -- under any circumstance -- take it out on the people you care about. But I guess you won't know if you're ready until you're ready. Sometimes you just can't plan stuff out.
I just want you to know that things are going to work out the way they're meant to. You can't change what's supposed to be.
Best of Luck,
Yourself, Six Months Ago
