Your best friend throughout college will most likely remain your best friend for the rest of your life. She is “your person,” the one you can go to with absolutely anything. Your college best friend sees you at your absolute best, but they also see you at your absolute worst, and yet they’re still there beside you every day -- most likely with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s to cheer you up on the harder days.
Your college best friend deals with every single version of you: the you that parties too much and the you that is overly boy-crazy. They see you when you're angry at the world, when you're overly dramatic, and when you're staying in bed while crying because your favorite character in the Netflix series you’re watching has tragically died. Your college best friend knows all sides of you and loves you still.
They also play many different roles in your life. These roles include, but are not limited to: your therapist, tutor, wingman, and the occasional mother figure. They are there to encourage you to try new things but also pick up the pieces when what you do goes terribly wrong. Even when you are fighting, they are still there to stick up for you. They will always have your back when someone messes with you because, HELLO, the only person who can mess with you and get away with it is she.
So this is an opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for being there for me no matter what, even though sometimes you may not always agree with my opinions or decisions. Thank you for listening to me and giving me the useful (yet sometimes harsh) advice that I need to hear. Thank you for snapping me back to reality when I become a complete drama queen. But most of all, thank you for providing me with an irreplaceable bond and showing me what true friendship really is. (Sappy and cliche, but who cares. I LOVE YOU!)
