Mom,
Graduating season is upon us and rather than my brother or me graduating, it's your time. After many years of hard work, you've accomplished your dream. I remember when my brother and I were younger, you would take classes here and there online, building your GPA. I remember you applying to different universities when I could finally drive so I could get myself to school. I remember the moment you got into nursing school and the excitement we all felt. I remember everything like it was yesterday.
You would take night classes, online classes and go to three separate locations, all to better your own education so that you could not only help provide for us, but also accomplish your dream- a dream that is now becoming a reality.
My junior year of high school you were accepted into school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). You would go to class after I got home from school and be there until eight at night sometimes. You worked so hard in order to get into nursing school and now you're graduating to be a Registered Nurse (RN). A lifetime of dedication has all led up to this moment: your graduation.
You’re a kind person who always sees the best in people, you never judge anyone and you will be the perfect RN. As a mother, you are the most compassionate, devoted and loving person I know and you deserve every moment of this graduation.
Over the years you have proven how intelligent you are and how dedication and passion combined are instrumental in the accomplishment of any goal. You have shown to me that I can achieve any goal that I want to if I set my mind to it. Through perseverance and strength, I am capable of anything.
I know sometimes times were hard. School was overwhelming. I was an angst-ridden teenager from time to time and sometimes took it out on you, but you took it all in stride and somehow kept up with everyone in the family along with all of your schoolwork. Clearly not all superheroes wear capes, but some do wear fashionable mom jeans.
So thank you, mom. Thank you for proving to me that I can do anything that I set my mind to, that support systems are important in getting through college, that if I ever lose my way I can always get my way back. Thank you for being in my life and congratulations on your amazing accomplishment. This is only the beginning to your amazing career.
All of My Love,
Your Sometimes Angst-Ridden Daughter
