This one goes out to all the best friends who are separated by miles and miles. Whether it's a temporary distance or not, it's hard work being far away from one another. At the end of the day, long distance is one thing that makes your relationship even stronger.
Dear *insert name of best friend* I miss you.
I miss being together every day for three weeks straight, going on dates and getting frozen yogurt. I miss driving with the windows down, screaming our favorite songs, not having a care in the world. Now that we are (unfortunately) 4,000 miles apart, I miss you more than ever.
We defy the statement "high school friends drift apart" in every way possible. If there is one thing I have grown to love about being long distance, I wake up every morning knowing I have someone who will always be there. It takes a special type of person to maintain a long distance friendship, and that person is you.
Because of the back and forth in our busy schedules, I rarely get to tell you how much you mean to me. I have never had a person in my life who understands me like you. A best friend is more than how much time you spent together, or how many nights you've forgotten together (oops). It’s about who entered your life and has always been by your side (figuratively, of course). I am so happy you came into my life and stayed.
When I know what class you're in, what you had for lunch, or that you passed by your crush, I feel as if I am experiencing college with you. Thank you for knowing the names of all my new friends and keeping up with the drama. You are the one person in my life who will always give me unfiltered advice.
Thank you for letting me vent, and reminisce on all the memories (especially the ones I bring up on a regular basis). When I think back on all of the embarrassing moments, summer stories, or awkward middle school years, you have taught me it is important to laugh at myself and live life to the fullest.
Thank you for being my person. The Cristina to my Meredith, our tragic separation has only made our friendship stronger. Sometimes I forget to answer a text or am unable to answer a call and you always understand. Our busy schedules are pretty annoying, but they make me truly appreciate the times when we have an hour to FaceTime. We are basically friend goals.
Thank you for understanding my excitement when we finally reach double digits in our countdown for when we reunite. No one understands this like you. Thank you for picking up right where we left off, as if the past six months didn't happen.
What I'm trying to say is thank you for being the most amazing person. I truly don’t know what I would do without you in my life. You are my sanity in a world of crazy. I constantly look forward to the next time we get to have another airport reunion. Forever wishing I could experience college with you, I can’t wait until I see you next. I miss you and our insane moments together so much.
This one is for you Mads.
See you sooner than soon.
