Not only am I a big sister, but I am 14 years older than my little sister. That comes with quite a few challenges. Pretty regularly when me and my family are out together a few too many people look too hard thinking she is my kid. There is also the fact that in 11 months I will be moving into college and she will have just turned four years old.
When you were born I was excited but also worried about the change from daddy's little girl, and an only child to having to share the spotlight with a much cuter, less talkative, more adorable, and far less tainted by the world human, but as time went by I quickly learned there was no other way I'd rather be going through life. I instead realized how blessed I was to have someone's nails to paint, someone to color with, to play pretend with, to talk to about their day, and I was so lucky for it to be you. You, my little sister, are the light of my life, and a constant reminder of why I want to always try and be my best self. I want to live a life that I know I will be proud to tell you about when you get older. With our age difference being something that could cause problems, instead, I hope you know you always have another person to look up to and come to in your times of need. Because as you get older even if we aren't under the same roof she will always be able to come to me even if you don't feel like you can go to mom and dad. When it comes to boys, best friends, or school, you will always have me to come to, and you will always be able to count on me for an honest opinion that is filled with love. I want nothing but the best for you in life and I plan to be there every step of the way.
High school will be hard, and you might cry sometimes, but that is only temporary, and you must always remember to find the good in people and find the people who will bring out the good in you. Make smart decisions that you would be proud of, and have fun, go to football games, make lots of friends, be yourself, and be a friend to everyone around you.
Although you're only three, I am already so proud of you. You are a ball of joy and energy and you can make everyone, even the strangers at the grocery store smile. You're such a shining light in my life and I am so glad I get to have you with me in this crazy thing called life. I cannot wait to see everything you accomplish in life because you are capable of anything.
Love,
Sissy
