Dear J.K. Rowling,
Without your brilliance, my childhood, along with many others, would have been a very dull place. "Harry Potter" was my life and to this day still is. Your books were my escape. When I read "Harry Potter," the books made me believe in myself and know that anything was possible if I put my mind to it and with the help of a little bit of magic as well.
You have taught me so much through your writing. First off, you taught me that true friends are essential to your success. From Harry’s very first experience at Hogwarts, Ron and Hermione were present with him, and they stayed with him all the way to the end. Whenever Harry was in trouble, his friends were there to help, and that has always stuck with me.
Love is everything. Any kind of love, for that matter, is everything. We can have love strong enough to save another, just like Lily had so much love for Harry that it protected him from Voldemort’s curse. We can be someone’s safe haven that keeps him or her from getting hurt or hurting him or her.
And last but, certainly not least, the importance of bravery. You taught me that bravery could come in any form. Even the littlest act of bravery speaks volumes, such as standing up for what you believe in. You don’t have to battle Voldemort multiple times to be brave. Even the smallest of characters like Neville Longbottom have bravery.
To conclude, thank you for all the life lesson that I learned just from reading your books. They taught me I could be terrified yet brave, smart but not arrogant, loving but not a pusher over. That I can do anything and that I need a strong support group in my friends. Also, thank you for letting me live with the magic you incorporated into your books. I am forever grateful.
Always,
An Average PotterHead and Member of Ravenclaw.
