Superwoman, AKA Lilly Singh, is my idol, inspiration, my everything. Do I want to be like her? YES. I adore the way she inspires others and brings positivity everywhere she goes. I do not think anyone else does it better than superwoman herself. For those of you who do not know who superwoman is, well, she’s the queen of Youtube.
Her Youtube career started in 2010 for self-medication from her depression. Lilly always felt that there was a lack of women representation within the South Asian community on the internet, and that’s when she came up with the ideal name llsuperwomanll. This is because she believes everyone has a superhero in them once you look hard enough.
Lilly Singh’s main goal was to uplift anyone, even if it impacted only one person. Now, she has accomplished much more beyond her goal, and this has not only caused a smile to people’s faces, but inspired others to also overcome depression. Often times when I am upset, I watch a couple of Lilly’s videos, and her videos truly uplift me. I suggest if you have not watched any of her videos, then go watch one now. One of my personal favorites is “How My Parents Fight."
I love the how Superwoman shows she’s proud of her heritage. For all the parent’s reactions videos, Lilly always presents her videos in such a way that makes her followers enjoy and repeatedly watch it.
Lilly has also recently written a book called “How To Be A Bawse." A Bawse is a person who exudes confidence, hustles relentlessly, reaches goals and smiles genuinely because he or she has fought through it all and made it out the other side. “How To Be A Bawse” is the guide to not only survive life, but to conquering it. On the back cover, it mentions that in Lilly’s life there are no escalators...only stairs, so get ready to climb. This book is a great way to boost your motivation.
I want to have the ability to do such a thing. I feel like my fears push me back and are not letting me reach my potential. Lilly Singh went through the biggest obstacle in her life to get to where she is today: a mental illness called depression. Her depression lasted a year, but the thing is, depression does not go away forever. Lilly mentioned that during her tour, some parts of depression came back to her. Even though she dealt with the symptoms of depression, she kept her head high and did not let any of her fans down. Superwoman would never let anyone else feel the way she is feeling because she knows how it's like to feel that way.Lilly’s video on “Draw My Life” made me realize how she truly is my inspiration; her recent video on “The Most Important Video You’ll Watch Today” shows how anyone can overcome anything, and they too can be their best self.
