Dear juniors,
Believe it or not, senior year will fly by. You think getting your senior portraits taken makes you feel old? Just wait until you walk into your school on the first day, that will really make you feel old. College is right around the corner and you guys need to prepare yourselves. Make sure you know where you want to go. Make sure you meet your deadlines. Cherish every moment you have in your last year. It goes by SO fast. It's scary to think about it but you have one school year left until college, another 180 days and you're done.
Many high school kids say, "Oh I'm not going to miss high school at all," or, " I can't wait to get out of here." I know this because I am one of those kids, but I know that at graduation I'll be regretting those words. So, if you're one of those students, I suggest you think again. You'll look back to your high school years as the best years of your life.
Even though you're going to be a senior, that doesn't mean you should forget about all your schoolwork and just not do anything. Colleges still look at part of your senior year on your transcript. Don't slack off, it'll only put you behind. You probably hear it from your parents all of the time, but your grades are SO important.
Make lasting memories with your friends because come August they'll be going away before you know it. Maybe plan a trip to the beach, the movies, the mall or just hang out at someone's house. You really should spend as much time as you can with your friends, because your time is slowly running out.
Stay organized. I can't stress this enough! Make sure you're organized while filling out your applications. Know what schools you're applying for and when the applications are due. Have your teachers check your college essays. Even though your essay might be personal, it's always a good idea to have another person look over your essay. There could be grammatical mistakes that you may have missed. Also, if you're planning to be a music major, get your applications early so you can schedule your auditions, if there is an audition for your major. Get all the information you need, write it down and stay organized.
APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS! Any extra money helps! There is a scholarship for absolutely anything. If you have red hair, there is a scholarship for that. Scholarship money can range from paying for part of your textbooks or paying your tuition.
I really hope this helped you. This is just a little rant of guidelines to ensure your senior year goes smoothly.
