To the best friend that will really be forever,
So we did it. 12 years of endless hours in classrooms, all to meet on high school graduation day. We may even ask how we got this far when it feels like we were just on the playground not too long ago. I’m sad that it took so long for the universe to bring us together only in high school, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am incredibly thankful to have someone, as enjoyable as you, spring into my life and be there with me every step of the way
Now we must part ways as we transition to different colleges and different paths. It pains me to imagine how I’m not going to see you in class everyday or get to grab lunch with you as much as I can. We won’t be able to chat every day, and I won’t even get to wave at you. It seems pretty bad now that we are going our separate ways but let me tell you one thing: Girl, am I proud of you! I’m so proud that you’ve made it as far as you have. I am extremely proud of how much you are accomplishing in life. I couldn’t have hoped for anything more than for you to be able to follow your dreams and strive for success. You’ve made me the proudest best friend in the entire universe. You make everyone else around you proud as well. You and I will be an endless amount of miles apart, but as my best friend, you’ll be so close to me in my heart.
I want you to remember that every single day as you go through your college years, if you need a friend there for you, I’m just a single text message away. I’ll still be the shoulder you might need to cry on or the ears that you want to listen when you have someone to rant about. We will definitely still meet in the middle during holidays and breaks so we can have that quality catch up time with each other. It will just be so strange not being able to drive to your house because you will be so distant from me. Distance isn’t going to affect our friendship at all because I’m the same me that will always be here for you. I also can’t wait to visit each other on the different campuses just so I can double check to make sure that this astonishing campus you will be attending is treating you like a queen!
I am so eager to see what the future has in store for us next. College is going to be a little frightening without you, but all I can think about is how proud I am of us. All that we have been through in high school has definitely prepared us for what is yet to come. I am still rooting for you from afar but never will I let distance be a barrier of an unbreakable bond.
Love,
Your best friend from miles away
