Hey there little guy –
I haven’t met you yet, but I already love you more than you can imagine. I am so excited for the life you have ahead of you, but I am especially excited for you to meet your mommy. You see, I have known and been a part of your mommy’s life for years now. I still think it is going to be crazy for me see her hold her own child, but I know it is going to be one of the most precious things I have ever seen.
I met your mommy the first day of the 6th grade. She was quite the shy little 11 year old, but I instantly liked her. Therefore, I naturally invited her to an 11 year olds biggest event of the year, my birthday party sleepover. As the year went on, she began to come out of that shell. We all began to see who she really was. She was (and still is) an adventurous, hysterical, and lovable, one-of-a-kind human being. At every single recess or sleepover the girls in middle school ever had, she was always the life of the event (and reason we have so many blackmail pictures).
Your mommy and I cheered for years together. A lot of times it was the core of our friendship. We bonded over picking uniforms, throwing up stunts, and embracing each season together. There would be times where we were cheering in the rain, so to brighten the mood we would sing songs. This might be the reason at times no one else on the squad liked us. When you see repetitive pictures of me holding your mommy, that is because this was our signature pose. She is one of the main reasons I stuck with cheerleading for so long.
I can’t wait until your mommy takes you skiing for the first time and I get to bring up all of her first time skiing stories. We went to North Carolina together with our youth group Senior Year of high school. She had never skied before and the first time we went down the slope I watched her slide down on her back the whole way. When I finally got down to help her, I ended up falling in the same ditch she was in. I would call it a blessing that we are both still here today to tell the tales, but you will eventually have the stories we tell from this trip memorized.
Your mommy has been a part of my family as well. We’ve spent Thanksgivings and Christmas’s together as well as even an Easter one or two times. When I left for college I still have always kept instantly in touch with your mommy. I have even already planned a road trip for you two to come visit me at school! Braces to boys, cheerleading to college, or animal crossing games to monthly breakfast dates, your mommy and I have grown up together.
That is why I know more than anyone that she is going to love you so unbelievably much. You are going to look up to her strength as you watch her raise you. She will go to the end of the earth for you and no one else on this planet will mean as much to her as you will. I can’t wait to meet you little guy and watch you grow up. I want you to know that I will always be here for you and love you with all my heart. I can’t wait to hear you call my best friend mommy.
With all the love in my heart,
Your Aunt
