Dear New Friends of My Amazingly Perfect Best Friend,

Congratulations! You officially have started what is probably going to be the best experience of your entire life. You see, the person you just became friends with is someone I hold extremely close to my heart. She is one of those people that you only meet once in a lifetime, and trust me, you will never ever find someone like her ever again.

I do have to admit though, I am a little jealous that you get to have the college experience with her, but I'm guessing you're also a little jealous you didn't get to truly experience her awkward elementary, middle school, and high school years. She's been in my life for so long now, and my best advice to you is that you understand how amazing of a person you just got in your life, because she will never leave your side. No matter how far I am from her, whether it's down the street or in a whole different city, somehow every time I see her it feels like nothing has changed.

I'm going into sophomore year now, and let me tell you being away from her constantly was not the easiest thing I ever did my freshman year. You're so lucky that you live so close to her, so please remember that. You'll feel what I'm going through in the summer, don't worry.

Just please take really good care of her. She means the absolute world to me, and I want nothing more than make sure she is happy. Trust me she's going to make you the happiest ever. She'll sit with you and look at stupid things online and laugh until you're actually in tears, and then other times when you're crying over something stupid, or really just need someone to listen to you, she will drop everything to be there. She’ll remind you that they're not worth it. She’ll make you smile even when you were sobbing seconds ago. She puts everyone first before her self. Learn to appreciate that.

You're just never going to find anyone like her ever again. Don't take any memory together for granted. She truly is the most beautiful, fun, all around fantastic person there is. She can do anything with you, from sitting on your bed and talking to going out on a random adventure, and it will be one of the greatest memories you have.

She's always down to go out and dance, or just stay in and talk about your feelings. You know how in movies the girl's best friend always know the perfect things to say in any situation? That's her. Make sure to listen to the advice she gives you, because she is putting her all into it, and means every word she says. She really is trying to just give you the best she can. But also make sure to check in on her too, she won't ask you to, but she'll appreciate it.

Always thank her for laughing at your really dumb jokes that you both know aren't actually funny. Thank her for hugging you if you ever cry. Thank her for letting you tell all those stories and at least pretending she cares. Thank her for staying by your side no mater what. Thank her for liking all your Instagram posts and Tweets, and adding your family on Facebook. Thank her for every smile, every late night, and every tomorrow. Most importantly, thank her for being her, because she never really gets how special she is.

She's someone you're going to tell your grandkids about one day. She's going to be in your life forever now, and just saying, it's going to be amazing. She's been with me through everything. Every bad day, every good day, and everything in-between. If there was anyone I would trust my happiness with, it would be her.

I hope you make as many memories, secrets, and inside jokes as I have with her over the years. I hope I see you around when I visit her at school, and I hope you're just as cool as she is.

But also don't think you're replacing me. I can't wait to hear all the new stories about you, and I'll meet you soon.

Love,

Her best friend of nearly 18 years

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
