You'll often be told to not room with one of your good friends your freshman year of college. You'll be told that you'll end up hating each other or that it's not a good idea because you never really know what someone is like until you've lived with them. I say ignore everyone who tells you that. Ignore everyone who tells you that and find out on your own if rooming with your friend was a mistake, but if you get lucky like me, you'll find that rooming with one of your best friends wasn't a mistake at all.
Dear roommate,
I remember how terrified we both were to come to college. I remember going on visits, feeling lost and not knowing what to do. Whether it was to follow the majority of our friends or to stay closer to home or how to arrange our dorm, we've made a lot of decisions together.
I will never take the memories we've made in the past semester together for granted. Whether it's ranting about whatever things we have going on in our life, rearranging our room at one in the morning, eating dinner at 4:30 and eating a second dinner at 8, all the nights we've cried while watching This Is Us and much, much more.
Thank you for not judging me when I spend the entire day laying in bed watching Friends, talk in my sleep or go to class looking like a train wreck. Thank you for not murdering me when I keep you up all night with my coughing when I'm sick and thank you for always being okay with staying in and watching movies with me instead of going out on a Friday night.
I'll never forget the inside jokes, late nights of staying up telling random stories, laughing til we cry, the many shared bowls of vanilla and chocolate twisted ice cream and arguing over who gets the bottom bunk.
Even if we do get on each other's nerve sometimes, I'm still always thankful I got stuck with you.
