An Open Letter To My Froomie
Cecilia Santis

Froomie (n)--a roommate who also happens to be one of your best friends.

To my froomie, you know who you are. And I know you’ll think the name froomie sounds a tad cheesy, which, I admit, it kind of is.

But I digress. Because froomie describes who you are to me. And this letter is to thank you for all the great times we’ve had this past year.

By the end of our first year at school, we were good friends, having just lived right across from each other in our old dorm. But little did I know that living with you the following year would bring us even closer together and make us the best of friends.

Here’s a list of things that I’m thankful for because of you!

Thank you for always being there for me.

I knew you were always a listening ear I could turn to if I needed to vent about something. Whether it was a big paper that I was going to have to work on for hours or a guy who I thought was cute.

Along those same lines, thanks for trusting me with everything you needed to vent about.

Our friendship is such that we had a give and take of advice back and forth to each other.

Thanks for all the movie nights!

I was so happy to know that you were as much of a movie fan as I was, and lying in our beds at night watching a movie from a laptop screen will always be one of my favorite memories.

The spontaneous adventures.

You were always up for doing anything, any time. No matter what it was. Whether it was just getting a break from our room and lying out on the lawn or meandering into the city and enjoying all it has to offer, I knew you would be my traveling companion.

Our dance parties.

I’m forever thankful for that Bose speaker you brought with you to school! Although we didn’t have the most room for dancing in our room, we definitely made the most it. On that note, thanks for giving me an appreciation for rap music!

Our late night talks.

Sure, this wouldn’t happen every single night because we loved our sleep, but there were the occasional moments where we would just lie in our beds talking about life, or even play a game of Would You Rather.

Food!

Because although the food from the Pryz is nothing but average, we could spend hours in there, finding more food to eat and more people to talk to. Of course, eating in the city was pretty great too. Just eating in general, really.

Laughing.

There were times that I remember laughing so hard at something with you that my cheeks and stomach hurt. The joke might not even have been that funny, but you can bet that we were laughing at it anyway.

But, froomie, our friendship is nothing to laugh about! I’m so happy that we had the opportunity to live together this past year and I wouldn’t change it for the world! Thanks for all the memories and I can’t wait to make even more with ya!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
