An Open Letter To Entitled People

A rant about all the entitled people in the world. You know who you are.

Why. Seriously, why. Why do you think that you’re so much better than everyone else. Why do you think that you deserve special treatment. Why do you think that simple politeness doesn’t apply to you? Why do you only think of yourself? What you need, what you want, what you’re doing, what people are thinking when they look at you. Oh wait, I forgot, you don’t care what people think of you. Because you’re some badass, you’re just oh so confident that other peoples’ opinions slide right off your shoulders. (You’re high and mighty shoulders, of course.) You’re smart, you’re talented, you’re humble, and you love telling everyone that you are those things. You walk down the street just expecting people to move for you. If someone actually brushes your shoulder, they are the one at fault. How dare they. How dare they think they can touch you. You walk into the cafeteria, and just grab a friend’s food without asking. You’re hungry though, right? You deserve it. You’re driving home, and you cut into the other lane right in front of someone. The other vehicle honks. Why are they honking? You didn’t do anything wrong. You come home, and see your roommate has leftovers from a previous date. How dare they not offer it all to you?

Why. Why are there people in the world who simply think of themselves above everyone else? How can you live like that? How can you go throughout your life, always taking, never giving, always expecting more. How could anyone think thats okay? Or even socially acceptable? Oh wait, I forgot again, being an incompetent asshole is in season right now. Does it really take that much effort to have some decency? Be mindful of others, we all live in this world together, and you being an entitled prick isn’t going to move you forward any faster. (Forward in life maybe, because the rate you’re going someone is bound to put you down.) Why don’t you try being courteous for once. Get out of peoples way, don’t stop in the middle of a busy walk way. Maybe try opening the door for someone once in a while. And for God’s sake, wave thank you when people let you merge into their lane. They don’t have to do that, you know? They could just never let you in. Then there you would be, on the side of the road with your blinker on, cursing the other driver for being a jerk. Get over yourself, and grow up. You are not anymore significant than anyone else. There are 7.4 BILLION people in the world, and you are just ONE of them. Get over it and go do something with your life that’s worth telling your children. Or cats. whatever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
