Dog owners know good and well that dogs quickly become part of the family. They are always there for the good times and the bad. They celebrate with you when you’re happy, and they cuddle with you when you're sad. I do not care what anyone says, animals have their own personalities. You don’t appreciate them as much as you should while there here, but once they’re gone, you realize how important they were to you.
I recently lost my baby to health issues. We had to put her down because she was in so much pain, and we couldn’t help her. We realized we were being selfish by keeping her with us while she was in pain. Once she was no longer with us, the house was quiet. The energy of the house was completely gone.
We no longer had her long wiggly body curling up beside me on the couch. We no longer heard her nails *tip tap tip tap * as she ran down the hall as fast as her little leg would carry her. She was no longer there to nudge my hand with her nose when she wanted attention. I miss so many of the little things she used to do.
She was the life of our party at the house. We do have more dogs that are a little older, so they don’t have much energy to bring. However, our older dogs are always there to comfort and unconditional love.
Losing her made me appreciate my other dogs much more and established the fact that anything could happen at any time, and no one is here forever. So, Hold on to what you’ve got and cherish the moments with the things you love.
